Melburnians have been getting used to seeing Australian Defence Force personnel in uniform patrolling the streets, after the state called in 1,400 reinforcements to get on top of the spike in new coronavirus cases. But soon those soldiers will be landing on people’s doorsteps, with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announcing the ADF will be helping with contact tracing of positive COVID-19 cases.
