As workers continue to search the wreckage on Wednesday for any survivors along with clues to the cause of the massive explosion that ripped across Beirut, countries from around the world are responding to the call for help. Crystal Goomansingh reports.

Officials have said the explosive material that was housed at the port was actually more than 2000 tons of ammonium nitrate, and the blast killed at least 135 people and wounded about 5,000. Scores of people remain missing.

Family members have turned to social media to request information on their lost loved ones. Global Affairs Canada has confirmed that at least one Canadian has requested consular assistance in Lebanon.
