In the United States, the acting head of Homeland Security has refused to rule out sending federal forces to resolve violent protests in Portland, Oregon. Last night a man was shot dead during confrontations between Black Lives Matter protesters and supporters of President Trump. The city has become a focus for demonstrations against police brutality and racism – since the police killing of African-American George Floyd in Minneapolis in May triggered a wave of national and international outrage. Nick Bryant’s report contains some distressing images.

  1. The BBC used to be have in studio broadcasters and reporters that were viewed as unbiased. For many years, even we Americans viewed the BBC as reputable source. What happened? The story isn’t Trump supporters vs BLM protestors. The story isn’t America is tearing itself apart.
