The lawyers for the family of a black man shot in the back by police in the US state of Wisconsin say he will need a “miracle” to walk again.

Jacob Blake, 29, was shot several times opening the door of his car in Kenosha. At least one of the bullets went through his spinal cord, lawyers said.

Several people were reportedly shot on Tuesday night amid continuing unrest following the police shooting.

The governor of Wisconsin is sending more National Guard troops to Kenosha.

As a result of the partial or complete severing of his spinal cord, Mr Blake is paralysed, with doctors unsure if he will recover the use of his legs.

  1. It is terrible that all the BBC news try to rap this up as Blake being wronged, he ran away he has a history of abusing police ( and this girl knows that) he has charges for domestic abuse and sex crime. If the media would make this claim maybe less people would riot. BBC love all of this. Reduce BB. Budget, government do something about BBC. Do we really need celebrities to get involved when there is no way they know the facts.

  2. The man was a wanted criminal. He had just assaulted two officers and had been tazered and tackled to the ground. He broke free and went to grab something from his car. What were the police supposed to do? Wait until he shot them?
    This shooting is justified.
    These riots are not.
