US President Donald Trump has said he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus and are now self-isolating.

Mr Trump, aged 74 and therefore in a high-risk group, wrote on Twitter: “We will get through this together.”

The president has “mild symptoms” of coronavirus, White House officials say.

Mr Trump’s announcement comes just over a month before the presidential elections on 3 November, where he faces Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

The development comes after Hope Hicks, one of Mr Trump’s closest aides, tested positive.

  1. As a human – I don’t want to see anybody die from this, now some folks don’t like him but to wish him or anybody harm in any form is not what humanity is about. Sadly a whole raft of society seem to feel everything in binary and your either right or left wing and mis-frame and besmirch anything not aligning exactly with their mentality and then act in the way that goes against all they say. That is an issue that won’t be solved soon.

But whatever your politics – wishing ill upon anybody is wrong and inhumane.

I wish him well as I would anybody who is ill – no matter if I like or dislike them as that is the humane thing to do.

    Be better folks.
